Lori Shad and Chrissy Bodin are both International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLCs) who have also nursed their own children. We are both comitted to giving evidence-based, compassionate breastfeeding help to those in the greater Jacksonville, Florida area. We know that breastfeeding a baby goes beyond just providing a food source; it is also a way to connect with your baby. Each nursing relationship is a highly individual experience and we are passionate supporters of helping all families reach their own, personal breastfeeding goals, whatever they may be. No two families are the same, and we are thrilled to work with you, whether you are breastfeeding, pumping, adopting, or working with a surrogate!
Chrissy is a mother of four children who all inspired her in different ways; two of whom she and her husband are still raising and two of whom are now adults. She has been married to her college sweetheart since 1988. Chrissy's desire to support women in breastfeeding had its roots in 1992 after the birth of her first child. The help that Chrissy recieved to nurse him made the difference and created in her the desire to assist others in finding their best success with breastfeeding and being able to enjoy the bonding that eventually comes with it. With this in mind, she became involved in mother-to-mother support groups and eventually became an accredited La Leche League Leader (2000) and later an IBCLC (2008). Chrissy has a heart for people and approaches each family with both sensitivity and practicality. She enjoys web design as a hobby and is delighted anytime she can incorporate her degree in Art History into her breastfeeding work.
Lori is a mother of two young children and wife to an incredible husband and father! Before becoming a mother, Lori attended Tulane University, owned a vintage clothing store, and worked as a Realtor. Lori's journey to providing practical, evidence based breastfeeding support began when she heard her own mother's painful story of wanting to breastfeed but having no information or support. With the help of an IBCLC, Lori gained the confidence and skills to successfully breastfeed her oldest child, despite early challenges, and soon began attending La Leche League meetings to meet other moms who were passionate about meeting their babies needs through breastfeeding. She is an extrovert who loves meeting new families, and working through difficulties with tenderness and humor! Lori became a La Leche League Leader in 2011, just a few weeks after the birth of her 2nd child, certified as an IBCLC in 2014, and has returned to school to pursue a degree in Health Education at the University of Florida.
